ACCE Career Guidance Service

The Australian Centre for Career Education (ACCE) provides person-centred career counselling  for people of any age or ability. Whether you are transitioning from education to work, looking for work, are underemployed, want to increase your work readiness and employability, are unsure of work or training options or are looking for a career change. Professional Career Counsellors help you navigate and understand your career options and give you the tools and confidence needed to work towards and pursue your career goals.

We offer a wide range of career development services and can support you with structured skills to build the career you want. Our professional career counsellors can improve your work readiness so you can gain and successfully sustain employment. We are a licensed associate and training provider for the internationally validated Employment Readiness Scale™ (ERS) - a self-assessment tool that helps identify how ready you are for work. The ERS is included in our counselling services and provides you with a career action plan. During your session, our career counsellor will explain your action plan and help you identify the most useful supports and actions needed to reach your goals.

FAQ'S

How do I schedule my career counselling session(s)?

A session or sessions are scheduled after payment is made. You will be sent an email containing Career Counsellor availability. You select a time/date of the session which is convenient for you.

How many sessions should I book?

The Career Counsellor will work with you to determine the number of sessions required depending on your individual needs.

How long does a session go for?

Career counselling sessions are approximately 45 minutes long. You have the option of speaking with the same Career Counsellor to ensure continuity of service.

Person-centred Career Counselling

If you already know your goals but are facing barriers to work, our career counsellors will help you navigate a way forward. It is not uncommon for people to wonder why they cannot find employment. Our career counsellors can help you understand your barriers to successful employment and address these with targeted interventions. We can also help you understand the skills and courses that are available to support you on your employment journey.

Our services are available via online video conference or telephone.

What qualifications does an ACCE Career Counsellor have?

Career Counsellors hold post-graduate qualifications in career development (e.g. Graduate Certificate in Career Development Practice or Graduate Certificate in Career Education and Development). They must also maintain professional membership with a career industry association, which includes ongoing professional development commitments.

Career Counsellors can help you understand, develop, and self-manage your career options. Career Counsellors can support you across all stages of the job search process and career education and development.

The service is suited to people who are:

  • unsure of their training or career path work/career options and pathways
  • seeking employment or training but lack a clear vocational pathway/plan
  • under or unemployed
  • underemployed and seeking more secure and/or skilled work
  • in need of support to plan a transition to a new occupation/career
  • wishing to pursue a professional career involving tertiary education pathways.
